11 black British brands to support throughout Black History Month and beyond

October 5, 2021, 9:50 PM

Here are all the British black marks that should be on your radar.

October marks Black History Month in the UK, a celebration and appreciation of the black community and their central role in British culture.

It is still as important to recognize all the achievements of the black community in the UK as it was when Black History Month was first celebrated in October 1987. But in addition to educating us on Black British history, we need to show our support for the community directly by buying Black British brands.

Shopping at black-owned brands means money goes directly to black business owners, who are statistically disadvantaged economically, and therefore directly into the community. In June 2020, Black Pound Day, which encourages consumers to spend with black businesses on the first Saturday of each month, was launched to reinvest in black businesses in the UK.

It goes without saying that support for black-owned brands should go far beyond Black History Month. However, in honor of the month, we're highlighting all the best black-owned brands that might not be on your radar yet. Here are all the black British brands you can buy throughout Black History Month and beyond.
