Car recall: the complete list of faults and incidents

[Updated on 09/21/2021 at 10:20 a.m.] With the exception of a break during the first confinement in France, a consequence of the health crisis, the car recall process generally does not experience any downtime . Moreover, a new phase of recalls concerning a dozen models has just been communicated, by the UFC Que Choisir, on September 14, 2021.

As a consumer product, an automobile model is likely to have one or more structural defects. Therefore, the original manufacturer of the vehicle in question must carry out a recall on the versions concerned in order to make the appropriate correction. Over the years, the development of embedded electronic systems has logically brought to light an increasing number of malfunctions in this field. However, current models are not free from more traditional, purely mechanical design problems either.

Depending on its nature, the defect can be relatively harmless, but also represent a real risk in terms of security. This is why it is imperative to be aware of a recall relating to this or that vehicle. With this in mind, we have compiled the most recent recalls officially referenced by France's leading consumer association, The Federal Union of Consumers—Que Choisir (UFC Que Choisir).
