Lineageos does not want to go against Google's decisions

The Lineageos team has spoken out about Safetynet, the protection implemented on Android when the terminal is changed. The position is clear: Lineageos will not go against him.

In 2016, Google changed its SAFETYNET tools to detect all kinds of system changes. With its help, some applications can block users of modified terminals. This is the case, for example, of Netflix, which no longer appears on the Google Play Store, Pokémon Go or Android Pay.Inevitably, those who have installed Lineageos pay the price, but the developers of the famous alternative Rom do not intend to change this.

In a column, the developers of Lineageos expressed themselves on Safetynet. It is said that they "will not intentionally go against an integrity verification implemented by Google for developers".The goal is not to offend Google, which could then decide to block the entire Google Play Store for users of modified systems, which would impact all of the personalized ROMs.Lineageos will therefore never interact a tool allowing to go beyond this safety.

LineageOS ne veut pas aller à l’encontre des décisions de Google

Those who want to use the protected applications will therefore have to reinstall their original firmware and lock their bootloader, or go through alternative applications, such as Magisk for example which makes it possible to temporarily derogate a terminal.Deleted from the Play Store by Google, this application can be on XDA.
