Strings are outdated

In the match between panties and thongs, the former wins! The New York Times says so. The American newspaper is based on a market study by Euromonitor. "Within millennial consumer groups, panties are popular," says this study, "thongs have had their day."

You only have to look at the windows of lingerie stores for a few years to realize this: boxers and even high-waisted panties - vintage style - have made a comeback in recent years. Can we say that strings are no longer popular? "False. We still sell so many thongs, but we don't show them anymore", confided Chantal Thomass in La Libre recently.

In any case, women today seem to favor comfort when it comes to lingerie. The underwear site 1001 Sous (whose mission is to give advice to gentlemen wishing to buy underwear for their women) conducted a survey in June 2014 among 950 people in France to find out what was the favorite lingerie of men and women. It emerged that "for 47% of women, lingerie must above all be comfortable. The sexy side comes into play for 45% of them." The survey also revealed that for 42% of men, the thong remains the sexy piece par excellence (42%).
