"Bush the non -vacinated": what are the constraints for people hostile to vaccination in Germany and Italy

Emmanuel Macron assumed Tuesday, January 4, wanting to "piss" the non -vacinated against the COVVI-19.If this sentence caused an uproar in the ranks of the opposition, it testifies to a desire to tighten the screw to push non-vaccinés to make an appointment.A strategy shared by several European countries.

In Germany, the 2G rule and the prospect of a vaccination obligation

Since mid-November, Germany has for the first time prohibited access to non-vaccinés to certain places by applying the "2G" rule. These are the initials, in German, for two groups: vaccinated and healing of the COVID.No more possibility for non-vaccinés to be tested to enter bars or restaurants, the door has been closed to them, as well as in certain places of leisure. This is worth when the hospital index begins to get carried away, to tend and reach the first threshold of 3 in the region where we live. And this symbolically strong decision to exclude part of the population will remain as the last measure taken by Angela Merkel during this health crisis, just before she leaves the Chancellery.A decision that makes it little appreciated among the non-vaccinated, or "corona-skeptical" as they are called here, because it is for them synonymous with loss and infringement.

Another measure had particularly shocked in Germany, and this time in the entire population: the curfew established for three weeks.Angela Merkel was therefore easily the target of the demonstrators, a fringe of which is led by the far-right AFD party and who has always, nothing new, hated Merkel, previously because of her host policy with regard torefugees.

What we can say about it as about the new Chancellor Olaf Scholz is that both have not had and have no hurtful words with regard to anypart of the population. They tirelessly repeat the recommendation to go and be vaccinated while the message will eventually pass.We can still feel a form of annoyance in the new social-democratic chancellor who is committed to making vaccination compulsory. But it could be the first unseen promise of Chancellor Scholz because the parliamentary calendar seems untenable.Olaf Scholz nevertheless still believes an entry into force of this vaccination obligation towards the end of March.

This proposal also revives demonstrations in the country resulting in the rarer thing here of sometimes violent clashes with the police.Non-declared demonstrations which often take place on Mondays as this Monday, January 10.This draft vaccination obligation only seems to open even more the breach which now separates the population. And could also divide the new coalition government since the FDP liberals have no desire to force anyone. It's in their DNA.This also raises questions in many elected officials but also among the SPD social democrats, the party of Chancellor Scholz.

Italy makes vaccination compulsory for those over 50

In Italy, the government also tightens the screw against non-vaccine citizens.Since this morning, they no longer have the right to do much. The strongest measure is the prohibition to take the bus, the metro, the train, the plane.Impossible to go to work in public transport for example, you have to take your car, a bike, a taxi, etc..One derogation only: school transport!

No longer possible either to go to the restaurant even on the terrace, you have to show your vaccination pass to settle at the table and even to have a coffee "Al Volo", at the counter as do the number of Italians. No gym either, it is impossible to swim in a swimming pool, or go to the movies or the theater. You even need a vaccination pass to enter a museum. And we also forget tourism or trips for non -vacinated because hoteliers no longer have the right to accept them.

The Italians that our correspondent could meet are all favorable - it must be said that they were all already vaccinated - they even pronounce for the vaccination obligation for the whole population. And this is actually Mario Draghi's goal.Except that he must deal in his government with the far right of Matteo Salvini and with the 5-star movement, which are both opposed to it.So we go there little by little with, for the moment, an obligation only for those over 50, for all the staff and teachers of the crèche at the university, for the health staff, the police andthe army.

For those over 50, a special fine of 100 euros has been set up by the taxman himself, who will find you to make you pay. This flat -rate fine is added to those already in force, but which depend on the controls of the police. These range from 400 to 1500 euros.

This more repressive strategy seems to work any case, according to General Figliuolo who coordinates the vaccination campaign.Last Saturday, first 70,000 doses were administered, 60% more than the daily average. And this can be seen above all in those over 50, whose vaccination obligation was announced two days ago: the number of primary injects among those over 50 has multiplied by three! For them, there is no queue and the vaccination centers are even open at night.
