Craze: to each his own headgear!

This summer, never without my hat. Indeed, this accessory is making a strong comeback in men's and women's wardrobes. What are the latest trends? Which hat to choose and how to wear it? Khandini Rajmun, image consultant for The Minimalist, gives us her advice.

Who says "summer" inevitably says headgear. The world of headwear evolves with the seasons. Hats are accessories that want to be more and more in summer. Hat trends are mostly unisex with the exception of certain styles. 2018 sees the unisex dad hat trend appear, especially the baseball cap for a casual, comfortable and boyish look. "To elevate a summer look, there's nothing better than hats like trilby's, straw hats, derby's and panama hats. Printed and embellished hats are also very popular with young people,” emphasizes Khandini Rajmun.

It's not enough to wear a hat to be trendy. You have to know how to adapt it to the circumstances. For a laid-back day, Khandini recommends the straw hat that smells of the sun and the beach. The baseball cap or panama is suitable in the tropics. The more athletic will opt for the visor. “Dad hats and trilby's are more appropriate for casual outings. “Those who want a more chic look will have to bet on a derby, ideal during a day at the Champ-de-Mars. “It offers a look that is both sophisticated and glamorous. The trilby, also known as the fedora, is often paired with suits with a bow tie for an elegant look. »

According to the image consultant, the trick is to contrast the outfit with the hat. As an additional accessory, hats should not overpower the look but complement the outfit by balancing a good color choice to the nature of the look. Khandini recommends wearing neutral hats with colorful outfits. For example, a beige trilby will enhance a red T-shirt and blue jeans and a yellow baseball cap is to wear on a neutral color outfit. “You can also match the color of the hat with the shoes and the belt. »

A hat can change the shape of your face. Not all types of hats are suitable for everyone, shape and size must be taken into account. If your face is longer than it is wide, opt for a hat that doesn't emphasize length. Flared brim hats like fedoras or dad hats will be more appropriate. “I also recommend paying attention to the size of the hat. The latter must be correctly adjusted to the head. So wearing a hat that is too loose or too tight is a fashion faux pas. »
